食品工业废水处理除按水质特点进行适当处理外，一般均宜采用生物处理。如对出水水质要求很高或因废水中有机物含量很高，可采用两级曝气池或两级生物滤池，或多级生物转盘，或联合使用两种生物处理装置，也可采用厌氧一需氧串联生物处理系统。

水质特点
1、屠宰污水一般呈红褐色，有难闻的腥臭味,其中含有大量的血污、油脂质、毛、肉屑、骨屑、内脏杂物、未消化的食物、粪便等污物，固体悬浮物含量高。
2、屠宰污水有机物含量高，可生化性好其中高浓度有机质不易降解，处理难度较大，宰污水中的营养物主要是氮、磷，其中氮主要以有机物或铵盐形式存在，而磷主要以磷酸盐的形式存在。
工艺流程
来自屠宰场的污水经格栅（网）去除污水中的毛、皮、浮渣和大颗粒悬浮物后自流入隔油池，去除大部分油脂和泥砂后进入调节池，经调节池调节水质水量后，并保证后续处理设施的正常运行。经过调节池的水经泵提升至平流式气浮沉淀一体机。先期去除水中悬浮物（ss），去除率达90%以上，出水进入一体化污水处理设备，一体化污水处理设备由（水解酸化池、二级接触氧化池、沉淀池组成），污水在水解酸化池
进行酸化处理，通过厌氧菌将大分子有机物转化成低分子有机物；经水解酸化池流入接触氧化池进行生化反应后再进入沉淀池，出水经过滤消毒达标排放
